School Council News and Events

Council News

You may have noticed some changes in the landscape out the front of our school lately. This is the result of our school community’s committed fundraising, including the Catholic Schools Netball Carnival and the Fete, in the past couple of years and the funds we will raise through the Walkathon and other events this year.

Surveys of the school community indicated a preference for the funds to be spent on classroom resources (including iPads and other technology) and the school grounds.

So, having met the brief in the classrooms in the past year, the Council has now turned the focus on the grounds.

Thanks to the hard work of our Grounds and Infrastructure working group (led by Richard Milczarek and Chris Daly), and with the help of an enthusiastic group of “working bees” in mid-May, the front of the school has been spruced up with a mulch-and-manicure.

Meanwhile, the piles of dirt in the playground are being shaped into a grassed Amphitheatre (with the underground water tank as the stage) and a peaceful little Labyrinth (or meditation garden).

These will be great spaces for our children to use and enjoy. Thank you to everyone who has helped to make these improvements possible.
